I used to write a lot of poetry but it dropped off as I started maturing intellectually and seeing the world differently. I want to start writing again, I feel as if I've gradually let go of a vital part of who I want to be. I'm interested in seeing how my poetic approach has changed over time.
I am in my final year of undergraduate studies and over the years, I have developed a passion for biology and neuroscience. My understanding of the human brain is exponentially greater than it was even one year ago (though realistically, I am just getting started learning about it). It is exciting to simply be able to hypothesize intelligently about the big questions of brain functionality.
But recently I've begun approaching lots of things, science included, with skepticism and some kind of postmodern tilt. It makes for an interesting dichotomy that keeps me in check, but honestly, at the same time, it really messes with me.
Society is finely-tuned machinery. This used to get me down a lot (and still is frustrating from time to time), but I try to derive happiness from the little interactions that you can have day after day. I recently (relative to the time I wrote this) talked to a sushi chef in Whole Foods about spicy food, the relative merits of hot sauce vs. wasabi, and NOT the weather.
I play acoustic guitar and my favorite thing about it is being able to create fundamental moods and atmospheres upon which civilizations of emotion can be built.
Welcome to my journal. I hope my ideas, poetry and prose satiate you to some extent. That is directed to all readers, including friends, strangers and myself at any future date looking back on all of this.
